RANDY Dalnekoff of Maryland is trying to find information on his family which moved to Glasgow from Odessa at the turn of the 20th century. He would also like to know about a mysterious second family in Glasgow bearing his surname. Randy’s paternal grandfather was born in Glasgow in 1908. He was the oldest of five sons born to Samuel and Esther Dalnekoff. Esther and the five boys left Glasgow for America in 1920. Samuel apparently left Glasgow in either 1918 or 1919 to go to Canada and then America. According to the Ellis Island records database, there was another family called Dalnekoff which left Glasgow in 1923. Their names were Lewis and Leah and their children Annie, Barnett, Hermin, and Sarah. ‘‘Lewis was probably a brother to Samuel,’’ Randy says. ‘‘I had never heard of them before last week.’’ Write to 5481 Luckpenny Place, Columbia, Maryland 21045, America or email rdalnekoff@home.com
