Public inquiries make sure that mistakes are not repeated

ROB Behrens has been in the news quite a bit recently. The 68-year-old, as the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, is the man calling on the Government to form an inquiry into its handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Didsbury-born husband of Debbie, whom he married at Manchester’s Jackson’s Row Reform Synagogue in 1985, said patients were reporting concerns about cancelled cancer treatment and incorrect Covid-19 test results.

And, while ministers have not yet committed to holding an inquiry, they have widely accepted that there are lessons to be learned.
