Best friends Kezia and Eve celebrate together

GIRL guides and life-long friends Kezia Dover and Eve Jackson were bat chayil at Giffnock and Newlands Hebrew Congregation.

Kezia, the daughter of Carolyn Dover and Richard Dover, and Eve, the daughter of Miriam and Philip Jackson, met at Calderwood Nursey when they were just three.

And the girls, both of Newton Mearns, attended primary school together and are now both pupils at Mearns Castle High School.

Sora Jacobs taught the twosome their bat chayil pieces and guests enjoyed a brunch at shul, followed by a disco.

Grandparents Esme and John Lipson, of London, Suzanne and John Dover, Emma and Bert Levy, and Kezia's great-grandparents Leslie and Beulah Naftalin, all of Glasgow, shared in the celebrations.

Guests from Manchester, London and Israel also attended the simcha.

Animal lovers Kezia and Eve enjoyed celebrating with their siblings Jemima Dover and Judith and Michael Jackson.


Chief joins Max on the bima

MAX Florsheim got a real surprise at his barmitzvah when he was joined on the bima at St John's Wood Synagogue, London, and blessed by Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks.

Max's brother Nathan, eight, sang Anim Zemirot.

The service was led by Cantor Moshe Haschel and the sermon given by minister Dayan Ivan Binstock, who had kept in transatlantic contact with the Florsheims via email in the lead-up to the big day.

Max, his parents Danny and Debbie (nee Mail), sister Lauren, 11 and Nathan, live in Scarsdale, New York, having moved there from London several years ago.

They returned to the UK so that Max could celebrate his barmitzvah with his many English and Scottish relatives and friends.

Joining Max at his simcha, were grandparents Rosemary and Paul Florsheim from Bushey, Ronnie and Zelda Mail from Glasgow and family and friends from the US, Israel and throughout the UK.


What the doctor ordered

MEDICINE and telecommunications combined for a perfect match as Rochelle Fisher and Adam Wilder married at Liverpool's Princes Road Synagogue.

Manchester-born Rochelle, a paediatrician at Leeds General Infirmary, is the daughter of Estelle and Clive Fisher, of Liverpool, while chartered engineer Adam is the son of Michelle and Bernard Wilder, of Leeds.

Rochelle's grandparents Sam and Hannah Gardner, of Manchester, and Betty Fisher, of Liverpool, together with Adam's grandparents, Iris and Cecil Fine, of Leeds, attended the simcha.

Rochelle's cousin, Chazan Jonny Turgel, of Edgware United Synagogue, sang the couple down the aisle.

Best man was Adam's brother Daniel Wilder. Rochelle's best friend, also a doctor, Nick Freeman acted as master of ceremonies.

The couple honeymooned in Thailand and Cambodia and have settled in Alwoodley, Leeds.


Facebook introduction

THERE was an international flavour to the wedding of Serena Palastrand and Glenn Orgin.

The Florida-based couple married in Chavat Ronit, near Herzlia, and had bridesmaids and flowers girls from England, Hong Kong and Israel.

Serena, the daughter of Lorraine and Ian Palastrand, of Whitefield, and Glenn, the son of Stella and Ron Orgin, of London, met after Serena's best friend Sara Crane introduced them via Facebook.

He proposed in Rome and the couple moved to Miami in August 2009.

Serena was a London barrister and is now taking an international masters in law at the University of Miami to re-qualify in Florida and Glenn works as a business investor.

They were married by Rabbi Laivi Forta, of the Chabad Synagogue in Aventura, Florida.

Best men were Steven Whiteley and Richard Faith.

Maids of honour were the bride's sisters Stacey and Sasha.

Bridesmaids were Sara Crane, Geanina Dwek, Jasmine Gould Wilson and Zabrina Gould Wilson.

Flower girls were Ella Faith, Anoushka Faith, Lyla Faith, Eliya Karpol and Scarlett May. Pageboy was Avi Borson.

Serena's grandparents June and Jack Gould, of Liverpool, were unable to attend the simcha.

After a honeymoon in South Africa and China, the couple have settled in Aventura, Florida.


Sweet Georgia's joy

MULTI-talented Georgia O' Malley celebrated her batmitzvah at the United Hebrew Congregation last Shabbat.

Georgia, who attends Gateways School, is the daughter of Natalie and Howard Klineberg, and Julien and Rebecca O'Malley, of Leeds.

Georgia enjoys computers, rounders and shopping.

Georgia's grandparents, Marshall Capel and grandma Stephen Royle-Evatt, and great grandma Rhoda Black, joined guests from Israel, Lewes and Cornwall at the simcha.

Georgia's sisters and brothers are Sophie, 19, Max, 18, Jade, 9, Henry, 4, and one-year-old Kitty.
