NETBALL fan Sasha Pinkus marked her batmitzvah with a party at the Inside Manchester Hotel.

The daughter of Simone and Danny Pinkus, of Whitefield, Sasha is also enrolled on the Whitefield Chabad bat chayil course.

A King David High School pupil, she has a sister, Ellie, 15, and brother, Ben, who is nine.

Also joining in the celebrations were grandparents Janice and Stuart Sivner, of Radcliffe, and Ingrid and Robert Pinkus, of Lytham St Annes.

A former head girl at King David Primary School, Sasha also enjoys swimming, shopping and baking.

Perele finds time for a rhyme

THERE was an extra large attendance for a winter Shabbat service at Giffnock Synagogue last weekend.

Congregants were there in numbers to help Perele Rubin celebrate her bat chayil.

Perele, youngest daughter of minister Rabbi Moshe Rubin and his wife Hadassah, gave a Dvar Torah in rhyme at a sit-down kiddush after the service.

Among those present were grandparents Rabbi and Rebbetzin Berel Cohen and sister Ikka and brother-in-law Yossi Kopolowitz, who travelled from Manchester.

Perele, who is a 5th Giffnock Guide, has many interests.

"I like to write, bake, do art, paint my nails, do my hair, ride my bike and I wrote an article for the Giffnock Synagogue magazine," she said.

"I also wrote a letter to Michael Morpurgo, David Attenborough, the Queen and Tim Peake and I got replies from all of them, except Tim Peake."
