MARK MCCLURE of San Diego is trying to find anyone in Glasgow who remembers his mother. Catherine (Katie) Colligan, was born in 1897 and worked in a Jewish house in the Gorbals around 1911.
''As a young child I remember she had a friend who worked or owned a coal yard in Pollockshaws or Shields Road, Glasgow,'' Mark adds.
''His name was Mr Silver. My mother came from a family of five or six children, most of them from Dundee.
''It sounds improbable, but I am just trying to find a photograph of her.''

SANDY GIBSON of California is looking for descendants of David and Elizabeth (nee Kravitz) Marks.
They moved to Leeds around 1892/3 from either Kiev, Odessa or Romania. Four children were born in Leeds - Meyer (1893), Leah (1894), Sol (1896) and Rose (1898). Sandy believes there were another eight children - some born prior to the family moving to Leeds. David was a hatmaker.
In 1903 the family left Leeds and sailed to America, landing in Canada and finally settling in Chicago, Illinois. Sandy's thought is that there were other Marks and Kravitz families (brothers, sisters, cousins) also in Leeds.

JANET HUDSON of Manchester would like to meet members of the Edelson family whom she now believes live in Leeds.
Janet's mother Yetta (nee Edelson) Leigh is now 87. Yetta, who is also known as Hettie was brought up in Davison Street, Cheetham Hill. Janet says her mother was close to her cousin, the late Yudkie Edelson, who lived nearby.
After Yudkie married, he and his wife (also called Yetta) settled in Warren Street, Cheetham Hill (near to Allweis China Shop). Janet says that after Yudkie died, his widow went to live in Leeds with her child.
The family lost touch at this point but now Janet would like to contact Yudkie's descendants.
Janet can be contacted at 23, Hereford Drive, Prestwich, Manchester M25 0JA or on 0161 773 1574.
