David’s delight that there has been no Covid Greek tragedy

IT is somewhat apt that when I speak to David Patrikarakos, he is sitting in his apartment in the Exarcheia area of Athens.

The neighbourhood is known as being the Greek capital’s historical core of radical political and intellectual activism.

And David has been fascinated by politics and international affairs since his formative years, which has led him to forging a career as a political commentator, writer and author.

Indeed, his second book, War in 140 Characters: How Social Media Is Reshaping Conflict in the Twenty-First Century, was so well received that no less than Sir Nick Carter — the UK’s Chief of the Defence Staff — and United States Navy admiral James Foggo deemed it to be essential reading.
