FOLLOWING their great success in 2007, the Glasgow Girls are holding
their second Burns Supper in London on Sunday, January 25.
The event is aimed at reuniting the many people from Glasgow now
living in the English capital as well as raising money for care
and educational charities in their native city.
The previous Burns Supper attracted 260 people and raised a mammoth
£16,000 for Glasgow causes.
Those who benefited were Calderwood Lodge, UJIA community programmes,
Maccabi, Jewish Care, the Scottish Jewish Archives Centre, Tahara,
Cosgrove Care, the Friendship Club, the Sick Visiting Association
and Newark Care.
Glasgow Girl Linda Goldberg said: “We are hoping this event will
be as successful as the first one. As well as those living here,
we would also welcome any Glaswegians who may be in London then
to join us.”
The speakers will include Scottish Secretary of State Jim Murphy,
who will chair the supper, actress Maureen Beattie, Ross Harper
and Jeremy Freedman.
